Now that my first audiobook is in the marketplace, it’s time to hang my shingle and develop what marketing folks call my “online” persona. I think that means social media stuff and blogging, so here goes.
Recording ALONE, the third book in Scott Sigler’s Generations Trilogy was a challenge, to say the least. I was brought in as a new narrator for the third and final book, replacing the narrator who did the first two installments, ALIVE and ALIGHT. As you can imagine, some fans were not happy with the change. I understand that (and empathize!), but I was hired to do a job and I did it to the best of my ability.
I’m thrilled with the way ALONE turned out. I am looking forward to bringing my acting ability and my passion for the written word to many more projects in the future.
To me, reading someone else’s work is a sacred trust. As a publisher (I co-founded Empty Set Entertainment), I know how much work authors, editors and the entire publishing team go through to complete a work of literature. It’s my job to bring that work to life — serious business!
As I set out on this new career path, I look forward to the process of acting out each work, and to the feeling of satisfaction when fans of that author are able to settle in and listen to the tale. An audiobook is a partnership between author and narrator.
Here’s to many more happy partnerships.
